God’s All-Sufficient Grace

Profound displays of God’s power marked the ministry of the Apostle Paul. In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul recounted a grand vision that the Lord gave to him. He knew sharing this vision would put him at risk of falling into pride. The Lord allowed Paul to be afflicted by a “thorn in the flesh” to prevent him from becoming conceited. Though he prayed for the Lord to take this suffering away, Paul eventually learned the Lord’s power is made perfect in his weakness. Paul endured many more trials for the sake of Christ but remained content, knowing that in his weakness, Christ’s strength is magnified. Paul boasted not in himself but in the surpassing power of Christ.
