How Shall I Then Pray?

In Romans 5–8, Paul describes the Christian life. Because of Christ’s work on the cross, we have “peace with God” (Rom. 5:1). We are united to Christ and able to “walk in newness of life” (6:4). We live no longer under law “but under grace” (6:15). And we enjoy the blessing of a Spirit-filled life as men and women who have been adopted into the family of God (8:14). When we suffer, we are helped by hope in future glory (8:18), but we are also helped by the prayers of God the Spirit who “helps us in our weakness” (8:26). Now, we pray with confidence the Spirit is praying for us.
