God’s Provision in Jesus, Our High Priest

A consistent theme throughout the book of Hebrews is that Jesus is greater. The letter’s original recipients faced the temptation to revert to their pre-gospel identity. However, the author of the book of Hebrews reminds them repeatedly that Jesus is better and to hold fast to Christ. As Christians today, we need to hear this truth constantly as well. In verses 12-16, the author warns readers that faithless disobedience will not go unnoticed. He then tells of our great high priest, Jesus, who can sympathize with our weaknesses and allows us to confidently approach the throne of grace to find grace and receive mercy. As Christians, we rejoice in receiving forgiveness from Christ, our great high priest. Let’s cling to Christ during our times of need.
