“Can I Rejoice in Suffering?”

In chapter 5, Paul addresses the blessing of justification: peace, daily grace, and hope—but his emphasis is on hope, the hope of future glory. The Christian doesn’t merely long for an escape from this world as much as a final escape from God’s wrath (see Romans 5:9). But can we have assurance of final salvation? We can, based upon the Father’s love, the Spirit’s work, and the Son’s death.
