When Do Words Not Work?

Paul is under arrest in Jerusalem. The citizens view him as a traitor because they believe the gospel undermines the law, the temple, and the sacrifices. The Roman officials don’t understand why Paul’s teaching offends his Jewish brothers and sisters. Paul tells the crowd he’s one of them, hopeful they will have a sympathetic ear to his gospel message. But the moment they hear grace is for the nations, they cut Paul off. Even Rome is prepared to torture him, convinced Paul isn’t sharing the real reason for the crowd’s animosity. Yet, through it all, God is at work, paving the way for Paul to share the gospel with governors and kings.
