Madeline Bentley

Bookstall

Madeline grew up in Auburn, AL. The Lord saved her through the faithful, gospel witness of college-aged girls in a parachurch ministry during in middle school. She went to Auburn University for college where she met her husband, Parker. Madeline and Parker moved to Atlanta in 2021. She currently works in Consulting. They have been members at Mount Vernon since January of 2023.

Sam Cook

Security

Sam grew up in a Christian home in Fort Worth, TX. The Lord saved him at a young age. In high school and college, he grew more in his understanding and practice of biblical faith. He moved to Georgia in 2018 after marrying his wife, Ansley. They have been members of MVBC since 2021. God blessed them with their son, Josiah, in 2023. Sam coordinated security ministry at a previous church before. He is passionate about creating a safe, welcoming environment for members and visitors to worship.

 

Lisa Crosby

Weddings

Lisa grew up in a non-Christian home but attended church with a friend where she heard Scripture preached, and she believed God was Holy and she was unrighteous, deserving of God’s wrath. God opened her heart to believe the gospel at 14. She has grown in knowledge of God’s Word most profoundly at MVBC for the last seven years. She met her husband, Denny, in college. They’ve been married for 24 years and have three children, Dalton, Seneca, and Haddon. Since returning from service as a missionary in Asia, she now works part-time as a Speech Language Pathologist serving children with special needs in Marietta.

Brandon Davis

Building & Grounds

Brandon grew up in South Alabama and was raised attending a Methodist church. He met his wife Kendra in college at Auburn, and they were married in 2008. In 2010, Brandon became a Christian when the Lord opened his eyes to his sinfulness and need of a Savior. The Lord has blessed Kendra and him with two girls, Myla and Adley. Brandon and Kendra have been members of Mount Vernon since 2017.

Will Davis

Adult Sunday School

Will grew up in Fort Payne, AL. He attended church throughout his childhood and college years but did not truly know the Lord. Will became a Christian towards the end of college when the Lord opened his eyes to his sinfulness and need for a savior. Since then, the Lord has placed faithful Christians in his life to point him to Christ and help him grow in his faith. Will met his wife Kaki at Auburn, and they married in 2016. The Lord has blessed them with a daughter, Sibby, and a son, Chip. Will and Kaki have been members at Mount Vernon since 2017.

Laura Hill

Decorating

Laura grew up in Atlanta in a Christian household. She does not remember a time that she didn’t trust the Lord as her Savior. After college, Laura returned to Atlanta for work. While attending a Bible study in her early 20s, her faith and commitment to Christ grew and was renewed. Laura and her husband, Garry, have been married for over twenty years and have two children, Trey and Virginia. They joined Mount Vernon in 2015, and during their time, Laura has grown tremendously in her love for Christ and the church.

Mary Anne Knowles

Women’s Ministry

Mary Anne grew up in Birmingham, Alabama in a religious home. She was given her first Bible at 16 by Pat Knowles. God used His Word to open her heart to the truth that salvation is God’s work of grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Mary Anne has been married to Pat for 50 years. They have 2 children and 2 granddaughters. They joined Mt. Vernon in 2005. A retired teacher, Mary Anne enjoys serving the church as a children’s teacher, discipling women and serving homebound members.

Dan Ryder

Dan grew up in a Christian home in Pennsylvania. He was led to the Lord when he was young by his older sister but spent years struggling to make his faith his own. His family moved to Raleigh, NC, when he was in high school. God, in his abundant mercy, pursued Dan and used his family and new faithful church friends to point him to the gospel and growth in his faith. He moved to Atlanta after marrying his wife, Meredith. They have two sons, Andrew and Caleb. Dan and Meredith have been members of MVBC since 2018.

Leyna Vaughter

Women’s Ministry

Leyna grew up in Lawrenceville, GA. After high school, she graduated from Gwinnett Technical College with a degree in Dental Assisting. She worked as a dental assistant for seven years prior to becoming a wife and mother. Leyna became a Christian while visiting Mount Vernon and hearing the gospel from her now husband, Kevin. She was baptized at Mount Vernon and became a member in 2007. Leyna and Kevin have been married for fourteen years, and have three children, Braeden, Molly, and Reed.
