"We’re all theologians. The question is whether what we know about God is true.”
Joshua Harris, Dug Down Deep: Unearthing What I Believe and Why It Matters
Mount Vernon is founded on certain beliefs - beliefs about man, the Bible, God, Jesus, salvation, the church, and so much more. These beliefs are revealed by God, and they cannot be assumed because in assuming them, we lose them. They must be contended for and taught from generation to generation. After all, we have inherited “the faith once for all entrusted to the saints” (Jude 3).
A summary of the essential Christian beliefs that bind the members of Mount Vernon together is found in our Statement of Faith. Our theological identity can be summarized in four ways. We are Christian, Evangelical, Congregational, and Baptist. Mount Vernon is a Southern Baptist Church, and has adopted the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) as its Statement of Faith.
