Social & Rescue Ministries

The apostle Paul wrote, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers" (Galatians 6:9-10). Christians, especially, have a unique responsibility to care for those who cannot care for themselves. History shows that those who have fought hardest for the relief of the poor, the sanctity of life, and against social injustices were Christians. We believe that all peoples are made in the "image of God" and are equally worthy of respect and dignity. Below are some of the social and rescue ministries that Mount Vernon supports and works closely with.

Sandy Springs Mission

Sandy Springs Mission

The Sandy Springs Mission (SSM) began in 1999 as an outreach ministry of Mount Vernon. Their purpose is to reach the large Spanish speaking population along Roswell Road from Abernathy Road to Wieuca Road. More specifically, "it is dedicated to helping and inspiring at-risk students from the Sandy Springs community to achieve academic success while also leading them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ." The Mission and their after-school program, which is the heartbeat of the SSM, is housed on Mount Vernon's campus. Wears Valley Ranch

Wears Valley Ranch

Wears Valley Ranch is a ministry started in 1991 by our former pastor, Jim Wood and his wife Susan. It is located in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains in Wears Valley, TN. The ranch is a Christian children's home and school that provides the gospel of Jesus Christ, solid Bible teaching, an individualized education, and the unconditional love of carefully chosen house parents to deserving young people from family crisis situations. Good Samaritan Helath CenterGood Samaritan Health Center

The Good Samaritan Health Center is a non-profit healthcare practice that provides a comprehensive range of services for patients without health insurance or the means to afford care. Its founder and Mount Vernon member, Dr. Bill Warren, left his private practice in 1995 to fulfill a calling to serve Atlanta's neediest residents. As a Christ-centered ministry, Good Samaritan fulfills its mission by spreading Christ's love through quality healthcare to those in need. Learn more...
